Been working on getting some hardware screwed together. Next come controls, switches, valves, controllers, wires, tubes, revisions, cursing etc.

Great update! I'm very curious how the double sheet detector will perform. Do you have the parts for it already and have done some tests with it?

I bought some ultrasonic transducers and talked our own Daniel Reetz into rigging them up for testing. It's not like he's got nothing else to do, right?

Needed a laptop stand to attach to the frame. Adapted a yard-sale sourced fishing rod holder originally designed for boat mounting. Suprisingly well- constructed with heavy duty ball and socket joint. Tag says $5 so I prolly paid $3. Heh.

Great! The page turning looks really reliable. Have you tried pushing the speed even more? Seems so solid it might already be able to run at twice this speed.

Is the static wooden finger to the left doing anything now? Maybe it is there to hold the already processed pages to the left so they don't lean to the middle and cause a creased page when the platen moves down?

Yes, I am inspired by the excellent work done by our member, Moose.

You are correct about the wooden hold-down. It is there to keep the book from closing up by itself and also for mounting an air jet.

For this video the speed was increased but this machine will never be very fast compared to other auto scanners. The design goal of dependability was chosen over high scan rate.

In the video I deliberately caused a zero page fault and a double page fault to demonstrate how the machine senses and reacts to these errors.

Made some nylon straps to hold the book to the cradle. There's probably a better way to fasten the nylon fabric as well as a better choice for the fabric itself. Appreciate your opinions on this idea.

Still using the Canon A480's rigged to pneumatic shutter pressers. Some day better cameras with electronic triggering. New page turning air blast via venturi effect. Thanks again to steve1066d for supplying the ongoing programming genius.
