a small story for my scanner

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

did not scan a book yet but seems it works fine . with a bad camera of 5 mpixels , a joystick to trigger that and almost 20 euro . i think that this is the most stable and accessible scanner from economic and simplicity view

It's always great to see examples of people going through the full process like this.

i scanned a book with Mohib type scanner . i will add some user experience here .

1. i used two lambades .dificult to have a good division of light trough the page . the light also after some hour cause a little bit of headache .

2. i scanned 500 pages per hour on average .for a 350 paged book i scanned 42 minutes --in diybookscanner i need max 20 minutes.--

3 it was difficult to flat the pages, put all the content from pages to a specific zone in the centre of the lens .

4 i notice in 6 of 350 pages focus outside from centre and in 5 from 350 pages moved pages

5 compatibility error between Bluetooth trigger and smartphone every 20 minutes

6 i could not keep a specific distance between glass and lens every 50 pages

7 in any case i scanned a book with a 30 bucks scanner

the program i used was
1 rename pages with bulk rename,
2 edit images with abbyfinereader ,scanttailor experimental
3 made djvu with djvusmall
4 ocr djvu output with abbyfinereader and output in djvu
5 make boomarks with ocr table of contect pages and notepad ++ and handyoutliner

examples Image and proceeded Image Image and proceeded Image

http://handyoutlinerfo.sourceforge.net/

just wanna share this small tool because is an easy tool to make boomarks . boomarks is needed because if you read on koreader as .Appimage (via linux, or vitrual machine on windows) or on smartphone or an ebookreader you need to know how many pages there are till the chapter ends.

see the bar below
Image

so lets say that you have a scanned book and in form pdf or djvu with ocr .

1.copy as text the table of context and after that close the file you copy the text from
Image

2. save as txt and open that with notepad ++
Image

3. edit the lines so you have titlle [space,space....space] integer number or titlle [.have more than 3 dots here.] integer number .
here many macros can be made because there are many protocols that publishers use
Image

4. drag n drop txt file
Image

5.accept this
Image

6. here check out and fit pages with page numbers
(if you done that before and every page on pdf or djvu fit with page naumber from the book skip this step)
Image

7. drag n drop the file you copy table of context as text
Image

8. ta da n alleluia

---notes i repost this because on sd card after two years of any use had some pages deleted and need to make a new one workable.

format sd card fat 32 ,copy paste a3300 -c version

have your sd card locked
power on camera with <alt> button
go to Menu - > Tools - > go down an update firmware
After the CHDK logo briefly displays, start CHDK by using the <ALT> key sequence for your camera.
Enter the CHDK menu, and select Miscellaneous stuff -'> SD Card' -> Make Card Bootable
