My new diy book scanner using two cameras!

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

My new diy book scanner using two cameras!

Post by Gandalf »

Hey Guys. I made my diy book scanner. I got many ideas from this site and want give thanks so many people. Now I want to show my book scanner. I just wanted to make a simple scanner to assembly or disassembly easily because of it's size.
I used 3 plywood squares and 4 acryl plates(2 pieces of transparent and 2 pieces of black one) mainly. The lamp is 20W Led flood lamp. I bought about $10 at ebay.

i don't know how to link and show on this site. Anyway, click this link to open.

If somebody want to make like this, don't forget the distance from top to bottom is over 24 inches because the lamp light is too close. The reflective light has to be out of marginal of the book size(Letter size).

That is a nice looking build. I assume that the book lies face down across the top. That would work pretty good.

It looks like a strip of masking tape on the platen. Is that a mark to show where to place the book?

I like the mechanical triggers. Very neat.

Well designed, the scanner is stylish! I've also been thinking about the same type of scanner, but it would have been more boring looking ... Is that Ixus160 cameras? Could it be slightly magnified that you could scan a few bigger books? And can acrylic plates replace glass?
Have you tried how many pages can be scanned per hour?

A stupid question about how tall, wide and deep this scanner is?
