Monson's Sticks: Cheap Single Camera Rig with Remote

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Setup and case are probably about twenty pounds and that was a bit much to carry across campus in 90+ heat. Change between books adds some time. But it is better than any alternatives I have found for setting up in a library!
Can you post some pics of your scanner?

jck57,

Thank you for coming up with this simple approach. I plan on building a book scanner and have been searching through all of these ideas in the master index. I came across yours and instantly fell in love with the simplicity of the design. Thank you.

Hello,

New user here at DIY Book Scanner. I am interested in building a scanner, and this build caught my eye.

I am wondering if anyone has any information about how this works with paperback books. The YouTube video shows some hardcovers and it looks great, but not any paperbacks.

Thanks!

My main concern would be the thickness of the stick preventing you from getting close to the gutter.
