Old Kodak camera

Post by ai4px »

I'm new here and have been skimming this forum whilst awaiting approval to post. I'll be asking a few questions today, please forgive if these things have been asked and I haven't found them yet.

I've got an old kodak dx4530 camera (and just found a 2nd on ebay for $21). Has anyone got any experience using these as webcams via USB? I'd love to take pics from this camera directly onto the PC instead of using the SD memory card. I may end up dissecting the camera(s) and remoting out the shutter switches. I think it'd be cool to use a switch contact on the lever (or foot treadle) that pushes the book against the platen to cause the picture to be taken. Maybe some sort of stiff spring on the lever that pushes the book up, then when it hits the platen, continuing to press harder (via a tight spring) causes the lever to move just a bit more and hit the shutter switch.
