Connector for Canon A640

Post by Waelkar77 »

Can I use this connector- ( https://www.icrfq.com/search/?keywords= ... archtype=0 ), for my Canon A640? I'm using a single DC supply for both of my cameras. I did some testing with a benchtop control supply and found that with anything under 4.7V the camera will show "Change the Batteries" on the LCD and after that turn off.

Any ideas?

I once had a A650 IS, and I suppose that the physical characteristics of both cameras are the same, including using 4 AA batteries as standard power supply, and the Canon orginal power supply ACK600.

The link you posted above brings me to a page where female connectors are being offered for soldering onto some electronic board.

I guess that what you need is a simple round plug with a hole in the middle similar to the one shown in this eBay article at eBay Germany.

I don't know wherebouts you happen to live, and if there is an electronics shop where you live or not too far in a bigger town, but you may mail order such a plug to be screwed or soldered to a cord. You need the one with the right outer and inner diameter, which I don't know.

Here is a list of such plugs offered by the German company Reichelt
