Digitizing Newspapers

Post by cuba »

Hello

Is there anybody here who has been successful with digitizing newspapers? (or oversized books)

Can you provide info on what your methods are?

I don't want to buy an expensive DSLR.

Newspapers are a really tricky realm. You want high DPI because the print is so small and relatively low contrast. But they are so big that you can't get high DPI except by zooming in on a piece.

One option that I think deserves more exploration is to use a cheap camera to take multiple photos of the newspaper. Then use software to stitch all the photographs together.
