Higher DPI output

Hello!
Im new to this forum and completely incompetent regarding coding, program languages and so forth. So please bear with me.

Ive got a diybookscanner kit from markvdb on diybookscanner.eu. I still have some things to work out before it is working properly but its definitely on the way.
My images arent pefect but certainly readable, though using scan tailor they get much worse. I need higher DPI output than scan tailors 1200DPI.
Which program should i use to crop, make marigins and so forth but keep the high resolution?
Ill use any program, open source or not. Thats what internet is for

I think problem is solved by simply not being an idiot for 5 seconds. (Thank you cheap brand coffee)

In above link an incredible man describes how you do. Higher DPI isnt automatically better.
You need to check how many vertical DPI six lines of text corresponds to using the program GIMP.
This value is used when starting a new batch of pictures in scan tailor.
The final output should be double this value.

Thus. Six lines of text=1x256
When starting a new scan tailor project: Fix DPI for all pictures. 256x256
When in output mode use custom DPI: 512x512

As said before: "please bear with me"
