Pads Scanner Build - Software Ideas

Post by adampadsadam » 30 Jul 2009, 11:49

Yo
I want my scanner to scan the pics directly onto my computer, rather than onto the cameras memory stick.
I am trying to figure out the best way (for me) of doing this... I will post ideas/thoughts/experiments/pics on here throughout the next wee while and would love to hear what you guys think. My scanner should be fully up and running in about 2 weeks. Please bear in mind that I am not very computer savvy, open source software etc freaks me out.
I am trying to comeup with a hardware/software interface(?) that is extremely easy to use for peeps like me.

At this stage I am thinking: 2x Canon powershot, hooked up to breezesys multi-ps software http://www.breezesys.com/MultiCamera/psr_index.htm
Then batch processed through the cool-looking software developed by Aaron Clarke for this site.

What do you think?

Ooooooooooooooooooooow!

I've thought about this, too, and I'm afraid not all cameras support this. The Canon PowerShot A590IS does not, for example. Which sounds like a major bummer, until you contemplate the time it would take to transfer each photo via USB as it's taken. Maybe it's sour grapes from learning that my cameras can't even do it, but I do think that it's more efficient to shoot to cards and transfer after doing all the scanning.

It'd have been nice if the video output were higher resolution than just VGA, though...
