Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
Could someone perhaps confirm or refute my hypothesis that the 'thickening-up of text' issue only occurs if the 'Qt5 Svg devel' package is not installed prior to building? (Cf. 4lex4's note: 'For Linux users: install Qt5 Svg devel package before building this version' - https://github.com/4lex4/scantailor-advanced/releases). I could not find this package in the Macports repositories.

Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
Having just updated Qt5 to version 5.13.2, reinstalled the early access STA version, and run some tests I think I can now answer my question myself: it's quite likely that an outdated Qt5 version caused those weird rendering issues when I installed the early access version a few months ago. All seems to be working fine now. Shall post again in case this impression turns out to be wrong.i8dcI32QWRfiwVj wrote: ↑01 Oct 2019, 07:00Could someone perhaps confirm or refute my hypothesis that the 'thickening-up of text' issue only occurs if the 'Qt5 Svg devel' package is not installed prior to building? Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
Wow, just a quick "HUGE THANKS" for ST Advanced!
Until recently I was still using ST Classic (tried Experimental some years ago but at the time it didn't set the dpi on output images which caused heartache down the line).
Have already processed a few scans in Advanced, and… Loving it!
Speed, dark interface, default settings, smart margins, better detection of page numbers and headers (for me the "miss" rate is down to about 5%), and a lot of other cool features that I need to read about and absorb.
What joy to see that ST lives on, and in a better incarnation than ever.
Again, huge thanks to all those who have participated, and who maintain and improve the program today.

Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
I have a feature request. For the conversion from color to B&W it would be nice to be able to define a (Color) Channel extraction before the binarisation. When the paper discolors over time, then doing a red channel extraction improves the difference between paper and foreground. It also works for grey shaded content on tainted paper. When the paper is deferend strong tainted (border darker than center, rusted staple, ...) it also give a more even background.
It should be selectable which channel to extract. For newer paper (e.g. wood-free paper) it is often the green channel with better distance and sometimes the paper has other colors (e.g. Covers).

Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
STA seems pretty nice, but I'm having an issue: auto dewarp doesn't seem to do anything. It just goes to the default unwarped square grid on every page.
