With the "notgood2.png" I get the opposite result: the table in the upper part becomes a clear black and white, while in the lower part the blue appears as all black.

Can you post a link to the second image (page 208) as it came right from the camera (without the shading and selection rects added by ST)?

Bom dia, Okelvin,

the resolution of the images which you posted is very low. Are these just copies with a reduced size for display on this forum, or are those the images you are working with in Scan Tailor?

And which version of Scan Tailor are you using?

I tried your images wich Scan Tailor Advanced, but I have to admit that I am overwhelmed by the big number of controls available in the "Output" step of this latest version of Scan Tailor.

https://postimg.cc/image/cj0psw4u1/ Here is the original scanned page.

The other images are printscreen from scantailor itself (latest advanced version)

In the whole book thre are about 5 pages that happen to produce that black thing, all others are OK.

I got it!

Unfortunately I can't upload images to this forum.

Settings in the "Output" stage:

Mode = Black and White
In the box "Options"

Cut margins = ON
Equalize illumination = OFF
Savitzky-Golay smoothing = OFF
Morphological smoothing = OFF

I had also "Color segmentation = OFF" in the box "Color operations", but I think that this did not the decisive setting.

Why not?

You should be able to attach files, and quite large file sizes relative to some forums, using the 'Attachments' tab below, and then optionally display images 'inline' in your posts.

However, only certain file formats can be uploaded directly, but it should be possible to attach any file if it is placed in a ZIP or similar archive.

I had tried that, but apparently I don't know the syntax of the BB-Commands to show images inline in a message.

I try again:

BTW, in spite of Mode = "Black & White", it had a grey background. But converting it to binary Black&White produced the above image (made with PMview)

Well, it works! Thanks for encouraging me to try it again!

Okelvin,
Thanks for providing the original image.

I didn't experience the problem that you saw. I used the default setting for ST version 0.9.11.1 (64-bit, non-enchanced version) and viewed the output in Black & White and in Mixed output mode and the page was displayed as you would expect. I can post those output images if that would somehow help you to determine the source of your problem.

Changing the settings doesn't help. However, if I go in image editing program and erase the gray background by hand, then ST doesn't "get confused" by the background.

STA 1.0.12. Different hardware doesn't affect the processing, does it?
