I am scanning a book that was previously photocopied where two pages (a spread) was copied into one page. In the middle, the book was not flat against the copier, so dark spots appeared between the pages.
During the "Select Content" stage, Scan Tailor about 20% of the time thinks that these spots are part of the page. In the first image below, the content was determined incorrectly while in the second one ST was correct.
Do you have any tips concerning scanner or ST settings that could help minimize errors of this sort?
Thanks.

Re: Select Content with dark areas between pages
The only thing I can think about that would help, is pre-cropping your scans to avoid a white gap between the dark area and the image boundary.
Scan Tailor experimental doesn't output 96 DPI images. It's just what your software shows when DPI information is missing. Usually what you get is input DPI times the resolution enhancement factor.
