Hello all! We here at the NDSU architecture and landscape architecture department are proud to invite you on our journey of building our first ever book scanner based off the Dan and Dario Laser cutter templates. We may need help along the way and will ask when problems arise. Thanks all and enjoy.

Lets start off by saying we are cutting all our wood pieces with a 60 watt Universal Laser Systems machine. The machine we are using is our newest Laser Cutter, as we have a second one that is currently housed in a different building and still operational. We are cutting 1/4" plywood for all the pieces and we will get pictures posted during our journey.

5 hours of laser cutting and we are nearly completed. We found that we needed to plane the cut pieces so that they are thinner and will fit more appropriately.

Lookin' good! For what it's worth, I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood from the Home Depot on 40th in Fargo. It's not really 1/4" - it's more like .19 inches.

Dan, I am about to post pictures of us sanding down our materials with a drum sander because were thicker that .19 and didn't compensate for that in our cuts.

Our wood pieces were just over a quarter inch thick...

.... so we used a barrel sander to get the pieces down to a proper size as well as cleaned up the facades,

and now we are down to a size that matched the template. Lets get to constructing!!

Had some trouble initially getting the arms put together.... human errors of course. The Dan/Dario template worked like a charm!
