Definitely looking forward to seeing the write-up. I am finally ready to build a scanner, and have talked to a local shop about cutting the parts on their CNC Router, so I expect to be able to put it together within a couple weeks of getting the plans 8-)

Awesome. Sorry about the delays - I'm going through a some turmoil at the moment, and also recovering from talking to so many people. But I am also working on this as quickly as possible.

Looks pretty crafty, Chief. From what I can see, lots to like: Pull down action, cable triggers, plywood framing, bungee cord counterbalance, compact package and an affordable sticker price. Well done.

Thanks. I spent the evening at a local hackerspace - there are some more details and images here, thanks to Al Jigen Billings (who works at Mozilla, BTW)

As a part of documenting this new scanner, I've updated the front page.

Niiice! Informative, welcoming and witty. To tell you the truth, I never go to the home page because I'm bookmarked to the board index, so it's cool that the first link is to the forums. And yes, the latest build is freakin' awesome so give us a clue what that bad boy is all about! :P

Way cool!!

I am bookmarked straight to the index as well - so that was awesome seeing the new front page. I like the flow of telling the story - giving some details, accomplishments, recognition, and leading to the "get involved"!

Maybe after you get the thread for the new build you can add a link from the image of the scanner to take you directly there. For now you could just link it to the larger .jpg image...

Cheers,
Dion

p.s. Oh how cool is that?!?!? I had no idea what a "hackerspace" was when Daniel was referring to it in the video, but the link on the new front page let me know......and guess what??? I found that there is a new hackerspace just opened a few miles from my house in Charleston, SC on the 1st of September!!!! I'm heading down there in just a couple of hours. SWEEET!

First post. I just got a few rare books and am now scrambling to digitize them (backups! Always make backups!), then I found this place.
The new design looks really great, and I'll try to get my hackerspace to build a scanner.

Keep up the good work!

welcome, Browncoat! Does your space have access to any large CNC machines?
