I'm going to be talking about this:

And talking about how this community might be working with the Internet Archive.

Live stream of the event here:

I'll also be at Maker Faire NYC all weekend.

The Mark 1 looks very beautifull, who's make is it? Is there already something written about it? Any building in progress pictures.

Pity that there is no video from your speech on OHS. I hope you made a video by yourself seeing the poor quality of the videos already posted. Yours are usely much better.

That's an interesting design. Here's a guess - it looks like the cradle moves up to a stationary platen by lowering the bar across the front? The gold bungee cords press the cradle up against the platen as its normal position and you'd move that bar up to open and turn the page? I like it. I've always thought the camera position should be fixed somehow to the platen rather than the base.

Also looks like you've moved to roller bearings for the lateral movement of the cradle instead of drawer/keyboard slides. I only see two of the bearings on the front side so does that mean the cradle halves don't move independent of each other?

Looking forward to more details!

That seems to be right. Video here:

Fast-forward to 2:40 to see Daniel and the new scanner in action.

After watching that entire video, I have a strange inclination to put a Billy Bass and a few of those lobsters on my next scanner. :)

Hi all,

I will post more details and a FAQ by tomorrow night. Really looking forward to opening it up to the community. Sorry, travel and catching up has really taken all my time and energy!
