I see Rob's & Misty's sites, and a few other things that people are up to so thought I'd put up a post with one of my projects:
These are complete flight simulator instruments that I've built from ground-up, they're installed into my C-172 simulator which was used commercially, here's a photo of it in an early stage of development with some of its covers removed:
With the exception of the yoke (genuine C-172), the pedals (Warrior 161), and the engine controls (C-172) everything else is my build and/or design although the USB interface boards + Comm & DME electronic boards are self-build PIC-based kits. It works fairly well, you may be amused to know that I can't fly it myself for more than about 2 or 3 minutes otherwise I begin to feel quite ill I put this down to being a 'real' pilot (amongst many other things) and so am expecting certain vestibular movement that isn't happening yet as I've not finished the motion actuators and platform.
I should add that this is probably one of my smaller projects (although not the smallest!)... the largest one in terms of size (but not scope) covers around 250acres

Re: Another left-field item.
Stunning work. Those look like servo wire harnesses -- are you using RC servos to drive the guages?
Re: Another left-field item.
Hi Daniel, yes some of the gauges use servos, the rest are using stepper motors (and/or LCD's & 7-seg displays). ADF for instance is stepper whereas VOR is 7-seg & servos.
ADF is likely to be deprecated in the near future but there's something kinda neat about flying an approach simly on that technology. if I ever get around to it my multi-engine FTD is likely to be almost completely glass panel ala G-1000, although I've more than once threatened to make it a DC-3 with all its old-time gear (I fly a DC3 occasionally & given the age of the ol' girl I thought it would be a good training/currency machine).
Cheers, P.
