Post by werkplaatsT »

HELLO,

The Werkplaats Typografie is a Masters Design program in the Netherlands.
We are currently doing a project that requires the use of a book scanner.
We would like to rent a Scanner for a few days the week of monday september 12.

There is a tight deadline, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Direct help is to be found at the university in Eindhoven, they have a
Zeutschel OS 12000 Bookcopy.

Contact the university about the possibilities and cost.

You need a harddisk with USB connection to store your scans.
When I used it last year it was free to use for everybody, now I don't know. It is a colour and b/w scanner and is able to make complete pdf's or single TIFF files, whatever you prefer.

Mind you when you scan in colour, use 2 black rulers to hold down the pages because the scanner will see your thumbs/fingers as part of the page thus making a scan from the book and your body. A lot of unnecesarry work dealing with those scans. In B/W the scanner will remove any body parts automatically.
I also tried using an acrylic plate to hold down the pages, then the scanner will scan the complete acrylic. So annoying if you don't have a piece of acrylic cut to the correct size of the book.
