Not that I know of, but I can ask around. We are mostly software people here, I'm afraid.
I'll put it on the list for the meeting on sunday.

It turns out there's a local (to me) hackerspace with a lot of tools available. What equipment is necessary to build the new design? Their list of available hardware includes:
  • 60W Universal Laser Systems Laser Cutter
  • CarveWright CNC wood mill
  • Grizzly manual mini-mill
  • Two MakerBot 3D printers
Would I need more than that to build and donate one?

Looking forward to the full writeup!

The CarveWright should be able to do it. Can you find out the work envelope?

I plan to release everything by Friday, currently in the process of moving from SF to LA

"The machine can handle a workpiece up to 14.5" wide x 5.0" tall x 12' long."

It also says the max cutting depth is only 1", if that matters.

Are you interested in building a copy of this new scanner of mine, Miket61? I'm working on the design files now, trying to get them release ready. Sorry it's been so slow!

We just had our weekly meeting and, though the details are still unclear, the build-project has been received positively. Once the plans are released we'll look into the details.

Yeah, I'll be posting drawings in DXF and CDR, as well as a video and a mess of pictures of the whole thing. Sorry it's taken me so long to do, but I plan to publish FULL documentation of everything under an open license. I basically have to get it done tonight and tomorrow afternoon, because after that I am off for a month of travel and contract work.
