The finish on this looks awesome! Is it a poly stain? What is it exactly? Have you had any problems with reflections?

Hi Dan,
I have built a scanner using the dxf file available in “DIY Book Scanner 920.zip”. I used Jigsaw to cut the plywood. It works very well. I used two LED flood lights, directly placed over the front and rear plates. I was able to scan 200 pages in 15 minutes to start with. I believe, still I can improve the productivity…

I had a look at your sample photo and I'm impressed with the quality. Could you post the original photo for comparison?

Does the A810 with CHDK work with gphoto2 or do you use mechanical triggers? What power supply do you run the cameras off?

Attached the original image. I processed with Scantailor, but I've not yet explored gphoto2.

I used electronic trigger made from USB hub, mobile charger, reset-switch and usb connectors.

I used A810 camera, but please be aware that this model has very limited features. There is no seperate A/V port. I will try to upload the side view of the camera for better understanding. USB trigger and A/V are in same port.

But this the cheapest 16MP canon compact camera which supports CHDK.

I am going through various threads in this forum for the past four months. It is not just knowing something about a book scanner, but to build a book scanner itself at affordable cost by an individual. This forum has excellent resources regarding the book scanner. Once again thanks for such an initiative, I also thank all the members of this forum.

Congrats kalyan! It looks amazing!

I am interested in knowing how you 'transferred' the drawings to the wood.
Can you show a picture of your jigsaw/accesories used with it and comment what were the biggest problems you had to face when using it?
How did you manage to get straight cuts using the jigsaw, and cuts to a certain angle? (I have no clue about these tools, so sorry if these questions are too obvious)
