Originally I was having a problem with getting SpreadPi to work with a RaspberryPi 2
and I saw this and installed it and now the program appears to be
working.

The problem I'm now having is that neither of my cameras
are turning on. They are both Canon CD1400 IS's and I put CHDK on both.
It's strange that neither will turn on. Both have memory that I put in
with odd and even txt files.
They won't turn on by hand either. Really odd. Would CHDK cause this?
Any ideas on what I should look at?

Re: Camera's no longer working.
Things to try:
- Verify that they have power. If you use an AC adapter, the power strip it is plugged into might have gotten turned off. If you are using a battery, perhaps it is discharged.
- Try turning them on without SD Cards at all. Perhaps CHDK is failing on startup and just turning them on without it will make them work.
I haven't heard of CHDK having trouble with this particular camera, but it is a newer camera and CHDK was only recently ported to it. If neither of the above seem to make your cameras happy, then I am not sure what to suggest.

Re: Camera's no longer working.
I've tried using the cameras without a memory card. Also, I have a power adapter and two batteries. None are working yet. At one point during the init of SpreadPi it asked to focus the cameras and I used to get
the camera screens to light up. What's odd is that both cameras are now doing nothing.

Re: Camera's no longer working.
That's weird. There are not reports of Canon A1400 bricked by using CHDK.
Could you check the voltage level of your power adapter?

Re: Camera's no longer working.
One battery is 4.18v the other is 4.19v. Also, I tried turning on one of the cameras with a different memory card that did not have CHDK on it.
This web site says that since CHDK does not actually write over the firmware that it's not really bricked.

Re: Camera's no longer working.
Now that I see the voltage of the batteries I suspect that your cameras are SD1400IS, not A1400.
CHDK does not make permanent changes to your camera, and it does not write to camera firmware (not intentionally) but it is a hack, then bugs are possible. There are some reports of failures here: Camera failures suspected to be caused by CHDK.
What was the camera power source during the failure? batteries or power adapter?

They are CD1400 IS. I was using batteries at the time.

Re: Camera's no longer working.
I figured out why my cameras stopped working. When I purchased the AC adapters they would not work with the battery/memory covers so I removed them.
These cameras must have a sensor that detects when they are open as when I reattached them the cameras turned on again.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help.

Re: Camera's no longer working.
Good to know CHDK was not the cause of the problem.
There is a CHDK hack to ignore battery switch door, but it has not been implemented for your camera. If you are willing to test it, I can send you a patched version.
