Archivists in / from Europe for sale

Post by ilmarmors »

I'm building full Archivist sets for myself and would like to sell to others. I have built prototype to iron out production issues and add some improvements. Now small production batch of Archivist kits are in production. They should be ready by end of October.

I'm located in Latvia (European Union), but I'm willing to send kits anywhere. Most likely I'll ship in Europe by DPD, but outside Europe by TNT. Kits will be sold via Latvian company.

Archivist kit is made from real Baltic birch plywood, sanded, painted black. I'm using Groglass ArtGlass anti-reflective glass, Soraa high quality LEDs, anodized aluminum tubes. There will be everything necessary for fully built Archivist. You can see preview of prototype Archivist (not fully assembled, used for my experiments) in attachment.

Price for Archivist kit (except electronics):
* 880 EUR (including VAT) - for private buyers in EU
* 730 EUR (no VAT added) for orders outside European Union or for companies in EU

Price might get lower, if I will have more buyers. I'm willing to sell also kit without lightning module, if you are really sure that you will be able to provide proper lightning yourself.

I would be willing to consider renting Archivist on case by case basis.

If you are interested or have any questions, please, let me know by PM here or by email to ilmars@delibero.lv. No commitment or prepayment needed. I'm interested to tune production batch and help making more Archivists available around the world.

Hello Ilmars,

Are you aware of http://diybookscanner.eu and our recently renewed web shop at https://lusis.eu ?

We try to be good community citizens and have invested and keep investing quite a bit of effort and money into community, publicity and development. If you can do the same, your entry as a supplier might benefit us all.

Kind regards,

Mark

HI, Mark,

Yes, I'm aware of your sites. I have built highest-quality Archivist I could for myself that is closer to original design than I saw on your photos and with more attention to details - anti-reflective glass, Soraa LEDs, anodized aluminum, F608ZZ for craddle base, black bungee jumps, plastic pulleys, ABS top etc. As a result, it costs more than your version. But I'm not here to compete. I like experience to build and improve something. It is very good that there is possibility to buy from several places. It will make Archivists more available to everybody.

I have already built one Archivist to find out all the problems with sourcing of components and improving Archivist design. I have already discussed some improvements with Duerig. First small production run (that is in progress) already contains them. After I will have new kits on hands I will double check whether changes are good in real life too and will publish some posts about that.

As I have gone through pains of sourcing and adapting components to those that are available in Europe, I'm willing to sell individual components or parts of kits to anybody who wants to build kit themselves but are stuck with something. That should help to make Archivist more popular in Europe I think.

Best regards,
Ilmārs

ilmarmors,

are you still making these sets?

For what it's worth, we are still making these archivist sets at diybookscanner.eu . And we have actually invested quite a bit of our time and money into improving the diybookscanner, mostly on the software side (spreads, porting chdk to new cameras, ...).

Kind regards,

I'd be interested in renting one for a small church project...but i'm located in Florida, USA. Can you give me an idea of the rental/shipping costs?

Thanks!

Hello Jacob,

Since you're in the US, your best bet is getting one from the US.

As far as http://diybookscanner.eu is concerned, people will have noticed the book scanner offering disappearing from our website.

We have - for now- ceased production to concentrate on our successful laser cutting business http://lusis.eu . We do have a very limited stock of finished kits left and plan to resume production in the medium term future.

While we answered questions from existing customers in time, with this message, I would like to apologise to potential customers that we did not reply to in a timely manner for the last six weeks. We had a lot on our plate both on the business and the private front. We will be getting back to you soon with a reply to your questions and an appropriate apology.

Kind regards,

Mark
